Country Now has your exclusive first listen to “Don’t Wanna Be Taillights” from Chance’s upcoming EP, I³. Penned by Blake Bollinger, Jeremy Stover and Pavel Dovgalyu, “Don’t Wanna Be Taillights” finds McKinney singing of a man who’s fighting to hold onto his relationship with a fleeing romantic partner.
“‘Don’t Wanna Be Taillights” is actually a metaphor for ‘lost love.’ However, the song itself is the struggle to not become someone’s taillights,” McKinney told Country Now of the new track. “It was the best way I could express the realistic struggle between man and woman. [It] talks about the arguments, the effort, and how far couples go in the struggle in hopes that neither will find themselves in the position of watching it all disappear into the distance.”
